Man injured in robbery dies

KARACHI:

A young man injured while resisting a robbery attempt on Tuesday night in Korangi No 2.5 succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Wednesday. With this latest fatality the number of innocent people killed by trigger-happy robbers in Karachi this year has reached 79.

The victim, identified as 34-year-old Zeeshan, was fifth among seven siblings and worked at a boutique in Korangi Industrial Area. His marriage was scheduled in a few months.

According to his brother, Mansoor Ali, he and Zeeshan were outside their house after returning from work when two armed muggers approached them. They snatched their mobile phones and shot Zeeshan as they tried to escape.

Mansoor, however, managed to overpower one of them, while the other was later caught by local residents a few streets away. They were beaten black and blue by local residents who later handed them over to police.

Zeeshan was rushed to the JPMC where he passed away during treatment on Wednesday.
