Suspect hired hitman to kill his brother out of jealousy

Police have traced the blind murder of a man and arrested the victim’s real brother for staging the murder plot. Maqbool Masih was allegedly killed by his real brother Maqsood Masih, who hired a professional assassin for Rs0.6 million, established the police investigation.

The motive behind the incident was Maqsood's jealousy over Maqbool's business success. The police arrested Maqsood and the middleman and recovered Rs0.1m from the suspects.

Rawal SP Faisal Salim, who was accompanied by Newtown DSP Chaudhry Akhtar Ali and Sadiqabad SHO Anwarul Haq told a presser that Maqbool Masih and his brother Maqsood Masih used to do wholesale business of bananas in the vegetable market. Maqbool Masih, the deceased, was a respectable businessman and known for his good behaviour and dedication to his work. He built a successful business but his brother Maqsood Masih struggled to achieve similar success, leading to feelings of regret and jealousy.

Maqsood plotted to eliminate his brother, paid Mushtaq Bhatti Rs0.3m in advance through Waqas Masih and provided him with a photo of Maqbool. On May 6, Maqsood Masih, the mastermind behind the murder, pretended to visit his brother Maqbool and nephews at their home, so that he would not be suspected.

As Maqbool came out of his residential property, suspect Mushtaq Bhatti, who was waiting outside, fatally shot Maqbool. Following the incident, a case was filed against the unknown assailants on the complaint of Erash Maqbool, the victim's son.

The SP further revealed that the Sadiqabad SHO conducted a thorough investigation, utilising human intelligence and other resources, which led to the involvement of the deceased's brother, Maqsood. During the interrogation, Maqsood confessed to orchestrating the murder. Consequently, the police arrested three suspects: Maqsood, Waqas and shooter Mushtaq. The authorities also recovered Rs100,000 from the accused. The identification parade of the accused Mushtaq was also conducted.
