
He was speaking at the launch of a set of training workshops of the programme on Wednesday aimed at improving commercial procedures and efficiency of power distribution companies (DISCOs), said a press release.
“The objective is to assist DISCOs in bringing improvements in their work which can only be possible if they consistently and constantly build capacity of staff and adopt modern utility practices.”
The topics under discussion at the workshops included meter reading process and meter change process and finding ways to bring improvements to the companies’ existing procedures by streamlining the flow of documents and eliminating redundancies without compromising transparency and accountability.
The three-year Power Distribution Improvement Programme involves similar training of the staff of Discos in various areas of need, including an IT training programme in eight cities that will complete training of 500 professionals in September.
These trainings are part of the US commitment to supporting Pakistan in reforming the energy sector and improving performance of power companies.
