Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returns with Jimmy Kimmel and exciting celebrity duos
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is making summer exciting with a fresh lineup of celebrity contestants aiming to raise funds for their favorite charities.
The popular game show returns for a new season, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and is set to debut on ABC on Wednesday, July 10.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary on the network, the latest edition will feature two celebrities competing to win $1 million for their chosen charity.
PEOPLE confirms that the premiere episode will include “Kenan & Kel” alumni and “Good Burger 2” stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell competing for the top prize, as well as “Oh, Hello on Broadway” stars John Mulaney and Nick Kroll.
It is fitting that these duos will compete together, as both pairs share long-standing friendships.
Reflecting on their "brotherhood" during a conversation with PEOPLE last November, Mitchell, 45, expressed that the moments he spends with Thompson, 46, are what he values most in their friendship.
"We've known each other since we were kids. We both had our own journeys and journeys together. It's a friendship that has been [able to last] over a test of time, which is super awesome," he said.
The other celebrity pairings also share a strong bond, featuring “Full House” alumni John Stamos and Dave Coulier, “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Bupkis” stars Ray Romano and Brad Garrett, “Scrubs” alumni Zach Braff and Donald Faison, “Dave” stars Lil Dicky and GaTa, “Bookie” stars Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey, “Community” alumni Gillian Jacobs and Danny Pudi, and "Another Period" stars Natasha Leggero and Jason Ritter.
