Man bludgeoned to death by son, daughter-in-law
A man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his son, daughter-in-law and their two accomplices in Surjani Town, police said on Tuesday. The murder was driven by the lust for a property owned by the victim.
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Syed Shahid Ali, was found dead in a flat in KDA Phase 2 Extension after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the premises.
According to police, Shahid Ali, an employee of the Sindh Secretariat, was bludgeoned to death with a hammer after being tortured. The murder took place on the second day of Eidul Azha, and the grisly discovery came to light when the odor from the flat became noticeable on Monday.
District West SSP Hafeezur Rehman Bugti stated that they have arrested the suspects, including the victim's son, Bilal, his daughter-in-law Mah Noor, and two accomplices Ahmar and Inam. Preliminary investigation revealed that Bilal, who had been estranged from his father due to a family dispute, orchestrated the murder to secure control of his father's residential flat.
"Bilal, along with his wife and friends, planned and executed the murder of his father to inherit the property," SSP Bugti stated. Bilal wanted to acquire the flat as his father lived alone following a divorce from his mother several years ago.
Police recovered the murder weapon, a hammer, as well as other evidence, including the victim's mobile phone and the sheet used to wrap his body. SSP Bugti added that Bilal was arrested while attempting to flee the city after the crime.
Police have registered the case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.
