Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has urged armed criminals to surrender, stating that the government can negotiate with those not involved in serious crimes upon surrendering their arms.
Speaking at the media corner of the Sindh Assembly, Memon said that President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting in Sukkur where the performance of law enforcement agencies, including Rangers and police, was reviewed. He added that discussions in the meeting about forming reconciliation committees for tribal disputes to prevent loss of innocent lives.
He underscored the Sindh government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and stated that repentant drug dealers would be treated fairly while those found continuing illegal activities would face legal consequences. Regarding recent improvements in Karachi’s street crime, the minister credited enhanced policing efforts and the procurement of modern weapons for the Sindh police, a directive supported by President Zardari.
He affirmed that the Sindh government is ready to support federal initiatives against terrorism to maintain national stability.
Responding to questions about ongoing heatwaves and rain preparedness in Sindh, Memon assured that government measures were in place to manage emergencies effectively.
He stressed the importance of unity in the country, regardless of political affiliations, urging cooperation with federal directives for national harmony.
