QUETTA:

An 18-month-old child has been crippled by the poliovirus in the Killa Abdullah district, marking it the fifth case reported in Balochistan this year, health officials confirmed on Tuesday

The new polio case highlights the urgent need to strengthen efforts in the ongoing fight against this debilitating disease.

In view of the alarming situation, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti held a meeting with a delegation led by Dr. Christopher Ilyas, Head of the Polio Oversight Board and President of the Global Development Division at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The meeting deliberated the strategies to bolster the anti-polio campaign in the region.

Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed Balochistan's dedication to eradicating polio, stressing the significance of cooperation with international partners and national organizations.
