Midnight Society, a game studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect, has terminated its relationship with the popular streamer amidst allegations that he sexted a minor through Twitch's messaging system in 2020.
The allegations resurfaced after a former Twitch employee came forward, claiming that Dr. Disrespect had sent explicit messages to a minor through the platform's now-defunct Whispers messaging system. The employee alleged that Dr. Disrespect had offered to meet up with the minor at TwitchCon.
Dr. Disrespect has denied the allegations, stating that he was paid out his entire contract and that no wrongdoing was found. However, the allegations have led to Midnight Society's decision to sever ties with the streamer.
"We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved," the studio wrote in a statement. "And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act."
The studio's decision comes as a shock to fans, as Dr. Disrespect was one of the biggest stars on Twitch at the time of his ban. He had around 4 million subscribers and had just signed a new two-year exclusivity contract with the platform.
