Cricket: ‘Galle wicket was not poor’

Lanka’s cricket chief believes that there was nothing wrong with the pitch used in the first Test against Australia.

COLOMBO:
Sri Lanka’s cricket chief believes that there was nothing wrong with the pitch used in the first Test against Australia in Galle.  “In my opinion, the pitch was not dangerous, nobody got hurt,” said Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Chairman Upali Dharmadasa. “But we hope to start an inquiry next week.” The International Cricket Council has ordered a probe into the dry, dusty track and asked the SLC for an explanation after match referee Chris Broad described it as a poor pitch.
