Teen kills mother, 3 sisters for ‘honour’
A 17-year-old youth opened fire and killed his mother and three sisters in the name of honour before fleeing the scene on Friday.
The police arrested him two hours later from Melsi, a tehsil of Vehari. Police said 17-year-old Abbas, a resident of Basti Loharan Wali, a suburb of Khanewal, killed his mother, Hasina Mai, and his sisters, Samina, Amina and Aleema by firing at them with a 12-bore repeater rifle in the fields during early hours of the day.
The Khanewal Police Station, Saddar Kabirwala, arrested the accused and recovered the murder weapon from him.
The police have started investigating the accused.
Meanwhile, five married sisters of the accused arrived at the scene of the incident and protested at the Kabirwala Hospital, along with their other family members, due to the delay in conducting the post-mortem.
They blocked the Kabirwala-Multan road, alleging that the police and hospital administration were demanding bribes for the post-mortem report.
The police in Kabirwala are investigating the accused, father of the accused, and other suspects under constant surveillance.
The police say that they have not yet reached a final conclusion on whether the accused acted alone or had an accomplice. Further investigation is underway.
Abbas, the suspect accused of killing four people in Khanewal, was dramatically arrested by the Kabirwala Police from Mailsi.
Speaking to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, a police officer revealed details of the investigation.
The suspect confessed that there were frequent visits from suspicious individuals to his house, leading to constant arguments with his family.
According to Abbas, a group of individuals had been sitting with his deceased sister for a considerable time the day before the incident.
The suspect disclosed to the police that the 12-bore shotgun used in the crime belonged to his employer, a landlord residing in Multan, and that he had borrowed it from him a few days prior.
After committing the murders, Abbas fled to his friend Usman's place on his motorcycle and informed him of the killings.
Usman advised him to surrender to the police, but Abbas refused. The two then travelled to Mailsi on Usman's motorcycle, leaving Abbas's motorcycle and the shotgun at Usman's house.
Meanwhile, the police were persistently tracking Abbas. Their investigation led them to Usman's house, where they detained Usman's brothers for questioning. They learned that Abbas had fled to Mailsi with Usman.
The police officer provided the SHO of Mailsi with descriptions of the suspects and the motorcycle number and tracked Usman's mobile number. This information enabled the Mailsi SHO to arrest both Abbas and Usman.
Following the arrests, Khanewal DPO Muhammad Ismail Khadak sought assistance from Vehari DPO and dispatched Kabirwala police to bring the suspects to the Sadar Kabirwala police station. There, Abbas's motorcycle and the murder weapon were recovered from Usman's house based on Abbas's identification.
