The Hunger Games pays tribute to Donald Sutherland: 'The kindest man in the world'

The world of cinema is in mourning following the announcement on Thursday of Donald Sutherland's passing at the age of 88.
The acclaimed actor, renowned for his compelling portrayals in a career spanning over six decades, is especially remembered by his colleagues from 'The Hunger Games' franchise.
The Hunger Games franchise paid tribute to Sutherland, reflecting on his role as the tyrannical President Coriolanus Snow.
"We asked the kindest man in the world to portray the most corrupt, ruthless dictator we've ever seen," posted the franchise's official Instagram account.
"Such was the power and skill of Donald Sutherland's acting that he created one more indelible character among many others that defined his legendary career. We are privileged to have known and worked with him, and our thoughts are with his family."
Sutherland's portrayal of President Snow left an indelible mark on the franchise, appearing in all four films: 'The Hunger Games' (2012), 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (2013), 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' (2014), and 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' (2015).
Tom Blyth, who portrayed the younger version of Snow in the 2023 prequel 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes', also expressed his admiration. "Donald Sutherland came about as close to mastering the craft of acting as anyone gets," Blyth shared.
"So many genius performances. I never had the honor of knowing him personally, but it was the honor of a lifetime to follow in his footsteps. Thank you sir for birthing one of the great movie characters of all time."
Donald Sutherland's vast body of work includes significant roles in films such as 'M*A*S*H', 'The Dirty Dozen', 'JFK', 'Klute', 'Animal House', and 'Ordinary People'.
His death was announced by his son, Kiefer Sutherland, leaving behind a legacy of diverse and impactful performances that have left an indelible mark on Hollywood and audiences worldwide.
