Police told The Express Tribune that it was a sectarian motivated terrorism attack and a Kurram bound coach has been targeted once again.

This is not the first time a passenger coach has been attacked.

On December 30 last year, one man was injured in yet another terrorist attack at a passenger coach in Hangu district but the terrorists were forced to flee when a passenger also opened fire on them with his hand gun.

Police told The Express Tribune that the terrorists ambushed a Parachinar-bound coach and fired at its tyres, forcing it to stop.

“The vehicle was hit and one man was also injured but when they tried to come close, a passenger started firing at them with his pistol thus saving the day otherwise it was yet another blood bath,” said a police official.

“Terrorists fled in panic but several people have been arrested on suspicion and they are being interrogated,” he said.

On December 26, two people were killed and four sustained serious injuries when unidentified miscreants opened fire at a passenger coach in Hangu.

Police said that a Parachinar-bound coach was on its way from Peshawar when it came under attack in Hangu.

“Six people were injured in the attack in which two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital,” said a police official adding that the the viticms had been identified as Ijaz Alim 38, Hamza, 18, Zeeshan, Tuqir and Adnan.

“Tuqir and Adnan later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital,” he said, adding that the attackers managed to escape after committing the crime in broad daylight.

“Tuqir is a resident of Kurram tribal district while Adnan is a resident of Charsadda who was on his way to Parachinar along with friends,” he noted.
