Sabrina Carpenter opens up about friendship with Taylor Swift and SKIMS campaign
Sabrina Carpenter recently discussed her friendship with Taylor Swift in an interview with Rolling Stone, published on Monday, June 17. The 25-year-old "Feather" singer, who has been opening for Swift on the Eras Tour, spoke highly of the 34-year-old "Lavender Haze" artist.
“I hold her to such a different echelon," said Carpenter of Swift. "I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she’s done."
Carpenter praised Swift and her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, in the interview. “She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realize I needed those songs,” she noted. “We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration.…"
The "Nonsense" hitmaker also mentioned Swift’s influence, sharing, "She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s also one of my favorites."
Addressing online speculation about her involvement in a SKIMS campaign, Carpenter clarified that Swift had no issue with her participation, despite Swift's complicated history with Kim Kardashian.
"I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end," Carpenter explained.
She admitted to not being fully aware of the online chatter, adding, "As much as people want to believe you’re tuned into every little thing, I’m not because I’m constantly working."
In April, Carpenter appeared in a SKIMS campaign, donning several items in a '90s-themed bedroom. She praised the collection in a press release, stating she "loved the femininity of the whole creative [shoot].
I love both collections, especially the delicacy of the Stretch Lace and the second-skin feel of Fits Everybody. Every piece I wore was super flattering and so comfortable, which of course is always a given with SKIMS!"
Carpenter, a longtime fan of Swift, has shared covers of Swift’s songs like “White Horse” since 2008. Beyond performing on the Eras Tour, she attended a Kansas City Chiefs game with Swift in October 2023 to support Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and they were seen together at Coachella during the first weekend on Saturday, April 13.
