Key TTP leader killed in Lakki operation

When the CTD and police raided their hideout, the armed terrorists opened fire.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Bannu has killed a key commander of the terrorist outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Tipu Gul group in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out in Lakki Marwat city of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

The operation, in which the local police were also involved, was conducted in Tajuri Road near Malang Adda after receiving tip-off about the presence of terrorists there.

When the CTD and police raided their hideout, the armed terrorists opened fire.

A key commander of the TTP Tipu Gul group, Waliullah alias Wali, was gunned down by the CTD in retaliatory firing, while other terrorists managed to escape from the scene.

The slain terrorist was a resident of Bachkan Ahmedzai area of the Lakki Marwat district. The CTD found weapons and two hand grenades on him. Wali was a son-in-law of TTP commander Atiqur Rahman alias Tipu Gul Marwat.

He was wanted in several cases of bomb blasts on CTD Bannu, DI Khan and the local police, as well as other attacks on the law enforcement agencies.
