Pharrell’s new track 'Double Life' sparks Drake diss rumors in 'Despicable Me 4’

Fans react with disbelief and laughter: 'Drake getting dissed on the Despicable Me soundtrack is unreal LMAOOOOO.'

The dynamic between Pharrell Williams and Drake has long intrigued the music community, marked by occasional jabs predominantly from Drake's side. 

However, the narrative may be taking a new turn with Pharrell's latest release, "Double Life," which some fans and critics are interpreting as a veiled response to Drake’s consistent digs.

This perceived retaliation comes in the wake of Kendrick Lamar highlighting Drake's disrespect towards Pharrell in his track "Euphoria." 

Kendrick’s words painted a picture of inheriting Pharrell's conflict, explicitly calling out Drake's attitude toward the influential producer. 

Lamar raps: “Yeah, Cole and Aubrey know I’m a selfish n**ga, the crown is heavy/ I pray they my real friends, if not, I’m YNW Melly/ I don’t like you poppin’ s**t at Pharrell, for him, I inherit the beef/ Yeah, f**k all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T.” 

He continues, “You better off spinnin’ again on him, you think about pushin’ me/ He’s Terrence Thornton, I’m Terence Crawford, yeah, I’m whoopin’ feet.”

The controversy further escalated with Drake’s "Family Matters," where he insinuated removing Pharrell's legacy from his life. 

His provocations were earlier hinted at in his "Jumbotron S**t Poppin" video, which fans initially thought was a tribute to Pharrell but later realized was mocking him. 

This was confirmed in a verse on Travis Scott’s "MELTDOWN," where Drake expresses, “I melt down the chains that I bought from yo’ boss/ Give a f**k about all of that heritage s**t… Since V not around, the members done hung up the Louis, they not even wearing that s**t.”

In "Double Life," Pharrell's lines such as “Lie detector time” and “Hey, what are you hiding? Nothing wrong being private… Make sure it ain’t wrong,” are seen as responses to the provocations. 

While Pharrell does not name Drake explicitly, the lyrics have led to widespread speculation among fans, with one notably reacting, “Drake getting dissed on the Despicable Me soundtrack is unreal LMAOOOOO.”

Adding to the intrigue, Lamar, who has been vocal against Drake, is set to appear in Williams' forthcoming LEGO-animated biopic 'Piece by Piece', scheduled for release in October.
