DI KHAN:

At least two fatalities were reported and five sustained injuries in an explosion on Koram Road in Kurram district of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province on Sunday, Express News reported.

The rescue 1122 teams reached the scene. They confirmed two deaths, adding the injured were shifted to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The condition of four is critical, the rescue officials added.

Earlier, at least nine people, including seven army personnel, were injured in two separate terrorist attacks in Kurram and Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) districts of K-P on June 9.

Unidentified terrorists attacked a security forces check post in the Kurram tribal district last night leaving seven personnel injured. The attack was repulsed after a heavy exchange of fire, forcing the attackers to flee under the cover of darkness.

A contingent of the army was sent to the area as reinforcement which shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

“A major and captain are also among the injured. All of them were shifted to hospital where the condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical,” said a police official while talking to The Express Tribune.

He said a search operation had been launched in the area and that several people had been arrested.
