Your death remains a mystery: Four years on, Sushant Singh's sister and fans are looking for closure
On the fourth anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic passing, heartfelt social media posts and cherished memories poured in from fans and loved ones alike. The actor's sister, along with Bollywood personalities, reflected on his life and enduring legacy.
Sushant was found dead in his hotel room, reportedly by suicide in 2020, at the age of 34. His sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, took to Instagram with an emotional plea for justice. The investigation into his death, still ongoing by the Central Bureau of Investigation, has left many unanswered questions. Shweta wrote, “Your death remains a mystery. I feel helpless and have pleaded with the authorities countless times for the truth. I'm losing my patience and feel like giving up. But today, for one last time, I want to ask everyone who can help with the case to put your hand on your heart and ask yourself: Don't we deserve to know what happened to our brother, Sushant? Why has it become a political agenda? Why can't it be as straightforward as stating what was found that day and what is believed to have happened?” She poignantly expressed the family's need for closure, adding, “Please, I am requesting and pleading. Help us move forward as a family. Give us the closure we deserve.”
According to The Economic Times, to honour Sushant, Shweta and the family held a prayer meeting in Mumbai on June 14, where fans and relatives gathered to pay their respects. In a conversation with ANI, Shweta conveyed her optimism about the ongoing investigation. “I have huge hope from the government and the judicial system of this nation. I feel that by the end of this year we would know what has happened.”
Bollywood also remembered Sushant fondly. Sara Ali Khan, who debuted opposite him in the 2018 film Kedarnath, shared a touching, unseen photograph from their time on set. The Instagram story shows Sushant with folded hands and closed eyes, immersed in prayer, with Sara seated beside him. Ankita Lokhande, Sushant's former romantic partner from 2010 to 2016, also paid tribute. She shared a heartwarming picture of Sushant with his pet dog, Fudge, a tender reminder of the actor's gentler moments.
