Pindi plans Eid cleanliness drive
The Cantonment Board Rawalpindi has completed the arrangements for picking up the offal of sacrificial animals and cleaning the sacrificial places and streets on Eidul Azha. The board has also set a response time of 30 minutes for the collection of animal entrails and solid waste in the Eid cleaning operation.
Additional Executive Officers of the Cantonment Board, Haider Shuja and Hameer Mehboob told a presser that a control room had been set up to monitor the sanitation system during the three days of Eid by dividing 10 wards of the cantonment into different parts.
They said that 110 heavy vehicles would participate in the cleaning operation, 700 employees would be on duty on all days of Eid, the holidays of the entire staff have been cancelled, and arrangements will be made to safely dispose of offal through additional vehicles.
A Central Complaints Cell has also been established in the Cantt Board office which will be operational round the clock to pick up the offal and take it to the rush point from where the vehicles will go to the dumping ground and dump it in a safe manner.
The officials further said that under the sanitation plan, 596 sanitary workers, 19 sanitary supervisors, one Chief Public Health Officer, one Public Health Officer and three sanitary inspectors would perform their duties. The supervisor of each ward would be responsible for timely cleaning, phenyl and acid washing and lime sprinkling of the main sacrificial place of his ward.
