Election commission data shows rapid climb in voters

Number went up by 2 million since December 2023

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday released the latest statistics on the number of voters in the country, showing a significant jump in their number to over 130 million.

According to the ECP data, the countrywide number of registered voters stands at 130,444,891 or 130.44 million — with 70,187,683 or 70.18 million of them men and 62,257,208 or 62.25 million of them women.

This is a considerable leap keeping in view that the figure of the total number of voters issued by the ECP in December last year stood at 128 million – an increase of over 2 million.

According to provisional figures, Punjab is in the lead with its total number of registered voters recorded at 74,255,074 or 74.25 million.

In terms of gender, 39,629,841 or 39.62 million of them are men and 34,625,233 or 34.62 million women.

The province with the second highest number of registered voters is Sindh with 27,381,237 or 27.38 million.

Gender-wise, 14,808,772 or 14.80 million of them are men and 12,572,465 or 12.57 million women.

Coming in the third place is Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with the total number of registered voters in the province standing at 22,245,264 or 22.44 million.

A total of 12,108,332 or 12.10 million of them are men and 10,136,932 or 10.13 million women.

In the fourth place understandably is Balochistan with the total number of registered voters recorded at 5,450,572 or 5.45 million.

As per the gender-wise data of the province, 3,056,775 or 3.05 million of them are men and 2,393,797 or 2.39 million women.

The federal capital, Islamabad, has a total of 1,112,774 or 1.12 million registered voters.

A total of 583,963 of them are men and 528,781 women.
