Murad to unveil Rs3,049b budget today
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will present the Rs3,049 billion tax-free budget of Sindh for the next fiscal year 2024-25 in the Sindh Assembly today, Friday, June 14 evening.
The budget with Rs500 billion has Rs423 billion for the annual development program while the overall development budget is of Rs958 billion.
The pre-budget meeting of Sindh Cabinet has been called on June 14 at 9am. The final approval of the budget proposals will be given in the meeting, after which Shah will present the budget in the assembly.
In the Sindh budget, it has been proposed to allocate Rs16.80 billion for creating new posts and furniture and other things. Out of the 5,000 new jobs, 3,000 posts will be in the education department. It has been proposed to allocate Rs18 trillion for non-developmental expenses in the new financial year. Non-developmental expenditure includes salaries, pensions, interest on loans, furniture and other items while Rs400 billion is proposed to be allocated for education.
It has been proposed to allocate Rs275 billion for the health department. It is proposed to allocate Rs155 billion for the Sindh Local Government Department, while Rs170 billion has been estimated for the restoration of law and order. In the budget of the new financial year, it is proposed to increase the salaries of government employees by 15 to 20 percent, while the minimum wage is set at 35 thousand. More than 50,000 new recruitments will also be announced in the budget of the new financial year, while in the first phase, it has also been suggested to give solar system to 200 houses.
