Brad Pitt is reportedly devastated by Shiloh's name change and estrangement amid custody battle

Brad Pitt is reportedly "devastated" by his daughter Shiloh's recent decision to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie, dropping his surname. Sources close to the actor revealed to Us Weekly that this move is not just a name change but a symbol of a deeper estrangement that has been developing for years.

The tension between Pitt and Shiloh became evident during a 2021 custody hearing, where 14-year-old Shiloh expressed her desire to testify about her custody preferences. Pitt objected, and the judge ultimately sided with him, granting joint custody. However, the judge was later removed due to undisclosed ties to Pitt's legal team.

Since then, Shiloh, now 18, has legally filed to change her name, a decision reportedly supported by her mother, Angelina Jolie. She is not alone in dropping Pitt's last name, as her siblings Zahara and Vivienne have also been using variations of Jolie's name. “To him, it was more than a change of name — it was a symbol of a deeper estrangement that has been brewing for years,” the insider said.

Despite these changes, Pitt is reportedly making efforts to mend his relationships with his children. However, sources reveal that he is struggling privately to come to terms with the situation.

The custody battle between Pitt and Jolie, who split in 2016, continues to unfold. They share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
