Did Babar and team cry after India defeat in T20 World Cup 2024?

Sources say only fast bowler Naseem Shah was notably emotional after the match

Following their recent victory over Canada in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan cricket team has managed to regain some composure. Aware that their fate is no longer entirely within their control, the players have adopted a more relaxed attitude.

Head Coach Gary Kirsten held individual meetings with several players on Wednesday to discuss strategy for the upcoming match against Ireland. Kirsten emphasised that the past cannot be changed and urged the team to focus on future games.

Despite rumours circulating on social media, team sources have denied reports that captain Babar Azam and other players were in tears and skipped dinner after their defeat by India.

While the players were indeed disappointed, they said, there was no atmosphere of mourning. Only fast bowler Naseem Shah was notably emotional after the match. These rumours are believed to be spread by the players' social media teams to manipulate public perception.

The Pakistani team arrived in Florida on Tuesday, greeted by persistent rain that continued into Wednesday, preventing any practice sessions. The team plans to practice on Thursday, weather permitting, though the forecast predicts further rain throughout the week, potentially affecting their preparation.

The rain also led to the cancellation of the match between Sri Lanka and Nepal on Tuesday. Continuous rain in Florida could further impact Pakistan’s prospects, particularly in the crucial USA versus Ireland match on June 14, which has a 91% chance of rain.

Pakistan needs Ireland to win; otherwise, a washout would grant the USA a point, securing their qualification and eliminating Pakistan from the tournament.
