Protest: Demonstration against missing man

The family of Shahreef Anwer and residents of Lyari staged protests on Wednesday against Anwer's kidnapping.

Tension prevailed in parts of Lyari when 22-year-old Shahreef Anwar did not return for over a day.


The family and the residents staged a protest in Nawa Lane, Cheel Chowk, Mirza Adam Khan Road and Lee Market on Wednesday.

The protestors burnt tires and aerial firing also took place in the area.

A heavy contingent of police arrived to try the control the situation.

The family shouted slogans against a political party who they believe to be behind the abduction of Anwar.

He had left to visit the office of the National Database and Registration Authority at Karsaz on Tuesday.

Anwar is a resident of Nawa Lane which is a stronghold of the defunct Peoples Amn Committee.

Kalakot DSP Pervez Iqbal Bhatti said that the law and order situation was under control and the missing Baloch had no affiliation with any party. The case was being registered he said.
