Taylor Swift won’t be making a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine
Despite internet rumors, Taylor Swift will not be dazzling the screen in Deadpool and Wolverine.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the pop superstar, known for albums like The Tortured Poets Department and Folklore, will not appear in the film. This news follows the debut of a new IMAX poster for the Marvel extravaganza on Monday, featuring the two title heroes holding hands and wearing friendship bracelets, reminiscent of those popularized by Swift's massive worldwide Eras Tour.
Though Swift is not making her MCU debut, fans have speculated for months that she might appear in the film, possibly as the comic book character Dazzler.
Rumors surged last October when Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who play Deadpool and Wolverine, were spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs NFL game with the film's director, Shawn Levy, and Swift, who was there to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have been close friends with Swift for many years. Levy also has a long history with the singer, even appearing in her self-directed "All Too Well" music video. Despite their established relationships, their presence at the game fueled fan speculation.
Since then, Levy and Reynolds remained evasive, choosing neither to confirm nor deny Swift's involvement in interviews.
In April, Levy told Entertainment Weekly, "I regret that I was not quicker to shut it down the first time, so I'm going to default to my very true situation, which is as much as we love each other, the fear of death is so intense in me regarding Ryan and how he desperately wants to avoid talking about all of these proliferating rumors."
In a May interview with Fandango, Reynolds addressed the rumors, stating that "straight-up dishonesty isn't in the cards." He noted, "Movies like this, there's so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie," Reynolds joked. "Anything can happen and that's sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”
