97 vehicles seized with smuggled goods in a year
The Multan customs authorities seized 97 freight vehicles, 302 non-custom paid vehicles, Rs20 million worth of foreign currency, over Rs200 million worth of smuggled food items, Rs100 million worth of tires, Rs80 million worth of apare parts and 473,500 litres of foreign fuel during the past fiscal year.
Customs Collector Imran Sajjad Bukhari said the collectorate had registered 839 cases, which was 143% more than the previous year.
He said the revenue collection in the region had increased by 48% as compared to the previous fiscal year.
He said fake currency, gold, mobile phones and other items worth millions of rupees had also been seized at the Multan airport.
