Emma Roberts protects herself from a stalker that broke into her house

Emma Roberts’ stalker broke into her home, called her from her landline, and sent her disturbing texts.

According to a report by TMZ, Melvin Jeffrey Conley entered Emma Roberts' Los Angeles residence while she was away. When she returned, she discovered the break-in and contacted authorities and her lawyers immediately.

As a result Roberts has obtained a restraining order against Conley.

Roberts is known for her roles in "American Horror Story" and "Scream Queens," sought legal protection after the incident, which has caused significant concern for her safety. Conley also used Roberts' landline to call her cell phone, identifying himself and claiming he had permission to be in her home.

Roberts denied knowing Conley or giving him any such permission. Court documents state, "While still present in my residence, the Respondent used my landline to call my cellphone." Roberts said she initially thought the missed call from her landline was from a family member. When she returned the call, Conley answered and referred to her by name, insisting he had her consent to stay in her home.

But Conley has managed to evade arrest. Since the incident, he has reportedly continued to send Roberts disturbing text messages, increasing her fear for her safety. "I am in sustained fear and am afraid to return to my own home," Roberts stated in her court documents.

The judge granted Roberts a restraining order for five years, which also includes protection for her three-year-old son, Rhodes Robert Hedlund. Conley is required to stay at least 100 yards away from Roberts, her son, their home, workplace, and the child's school. The court documents revealed that the alleged stalker had mentioned Roberts' child by name, further heightening her concerns.
