Courteney Cox, best known for her role as Monica Geller on Friends, recently took a trip down memory lane by recreating her iconic dance from Bruce Springsteen's 1984 music video, "Dancing in the Dark." The actress participated in a TikTok trend that asks parents how they danced in the 1980s, starting with the synth-pop hit "Smalltown Boy" before stripping off her hoodie to reveal the same Springsteen t-shirt she wore in the original video.

Cox, who was only 20 years old at the time, was selected by director Brian De Palma from a casting call for the video. Despite the experience opening doors for her career, she admitted in a 2017 interview that she initially didn't want to be chosen to dance on stage with Springsteen in front of 30,000 concertgoers.

The actress explained that the original plan involved filming a sequence with her character's friends getting ready before the concert, but that footage didn't make the final cut. The actresses were informed that one of them would be selected to go on stage, but they didn't know who it would be.

"I don't not want to be the one to have to go," Cox recalled. "I didn't want to dance in front of 30,000 people."

Despite her initial reluctance, Cox's performance in the music video became a defining moment in her career, leading to her breakout role on Friends and solidifying her status as a Hollywood star.
