n Bon Jovi, legendary frontman of the iconic rock band Bon Jovi, recently sat down with ET's Rachel Smith at the grand opening of his new Nashville bar, JBJ's Nashville, to talk about the band’s latest musical venture and his health.
The band has released their 16th studio album, 'Forever,' marking a significant milestone in their illustrious 40-year career.
Unlike their previous albums, Jon describes 'Forever' as a "joyous" comeback, a stark contrast to the more somber tones of their 2020 lockdown-inspired album and the declarative 'This House Is Not For Sale'.
Celebrating the release, Jon shared, "Now here we are, coming through all of that -- it was just a great sense of joy as we look back on our 40th and forward to new music. It's a good record."
The album launch coincides with Jon’s ongoing recovery from vocal cord surgery in 2022. While he continues to make progress, Jon admitted he's not yet fully recovered but remains optimistic about the future.
"I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel," he told ET. "It’s been a long process -- it’s been two years -- and look, I’m not quite there yet."
Looking ahead, Jon is hopeful about returning to touring, setting high standards for himself and the band's performances.
"I'm challenging myself to sing two and a half hours, four nights a week -- this is the bar I set for myself... I don't mess around when we go out," he explained.
2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Jon, with not just the album but also the opening of his Nashville bar.
He was also honored as the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year and featured in the Hulu docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.
Reflecting on the recognition, he expressed gratitude, especially for the acknowledgment of his philanthropic efforts alongside his musical achievements.
Jon is also thrilled about the reception to the album's first single, 'Legendary,' which has seen global success across various radio formats.
"I’m pinching myself," he exclaimed, thrilled at the enduring popularity of Bon Jovi's music.
