Is Travis Kelce a Trump supporter?
Travis Kelce has asserted that he would be comfortable returning to the White House with his Kansas City Chiefs teammates should Donald Trump be re-elected as US President.
Last week, Kelce and the Chiefs received an invitation from Joe Biden to visit the White House, as the current President sought to honor the team for their back-to-back Super Bowl victories in February.
If they manage to achieve a historic 'three-peat' and secure another NFL championship next season, it remains uncertain who will extend the invitation for them to return to the Presidential residence.
Biden and Trump are slated to compete in the US election later this year.
A possible encounter with Trump might be uncomfortable for Kelce, especially considering his girlfriend Taylor Swift has previously voiced criticism of the American politician.
In 2020, Swift accused him of “stoking the fire of white supremacy and racism.”
However, in the most recent episode of his and his brother Jason's New Heights podcast, Travis disclosed that he would accept an invitation to visit the White House “every time” “no matter who's up there at the helm”.
He expressed to Jason that “it's always an honor to go to the White House.”
“I mentioned it last time, any time I get a chance to be recognized by the President of the United States and get to go with my teammates and a group of men and women who I had success with to the point we get acknowledged... I'm doing it every time no matter who's up there at the helm.”
He continued, “I think representing the Chiefs up there, I wanted to do that for the Hunt family and all our coaches. I wanted to make sure I remembered that and got all those pictures and memories in the bank with them.”
Travis Kelce likes Donal Trump’s post
Earlier this year, Kelce caused a stir when he seemingly liked a photo on social media depicting Trump meeting former TV presenter Sage Steele.
This endorsement by the Chiefs tight end stirred concern among Swift's supporters when Trump posted a screenshot of the like on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
Accompanying the picture was a caption that stated: “Travis Kelce, NFL star tight end and boyfriend of Taylor Swift, is causing controversy after liking a post of ESPN former reporter Sage Steele and Donald Trump at a UFC event.”
The post also asserted, “I think everyone, even celebrities, are finally waking up and supporting the MAGA movement. Have liberals finally gone so far left that everyone is leaving?”
