Sarim Burney held for ‘Human Trafficking’

KARACHI:

A team of the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle on Wednesday arrested renowned philanthropist and human rights activist Sarim Burney at the international arrival lounge of the Karachi airport on his return from the US.

Sources said Burney was wanted by the FIA for his alleged involvement in serious offenses, including human trafficking.

FIA officials said Burney was facing charges of illegally trafficking 25 children to the US.

They added that Burney and his Trust illegally had the children adopted by US residents.
