Sharjeel seeks PPP legislators’ input for new routes of People’s Bus Service

Decisions made during the meeting included the launch of new routes for the People's Bus Service for more areas

KARACHI:

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon convened an important meeting of PPP’s federal and provincial lawmakers from Sindh to seek their input regarding the introduction of new routes of People's Bus Service in their respective constituencies.

Decisions made during the meeting included the launch of new routes for the People's Bus Service in areas such as Malir, Keamari, Lyari, and Karachi West. Moreover, plans were put forth to extend the existing route from Ziauddin Hospital to Chakiwara Chowk via Bilawal Chowrangi, 26 Street, Ghazri Lane, CM House, Sultanabad, and Maripur.

Attendees of the meeting included MNAs Abdul Qadir Patel and Agha Rafiullah, Karachi’s Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, and MPAs Saleem Baloch, Yousuf Baloch, Yousuf Murtaza, Raja Abdul Razak, Liaquat Askani, Asif Khan, and Shazia Singhar. Key officials of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, including Managing Director Kamal Dayo, Project Director Sohaib Shafiq, and Operational Manager Abdul Shakoor were also in attendance.

The participants were informed that test runs for new routes, from Hawkes Bay to Saddar and Manghopir to Banaras, are scheduled to commence from Monday following a comprehensive survey.

Suggestions were also made to establish a new route from Lyari to Malir and to designate a People's Bus stop at Chakiwara in Lyari. Additional proposals included the introduction of a red bus service from Malir to Lyari and a pink bus service from Malir KDA Morr Ghareebabad to Yousuf Goth in Baldia Town.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is also Minister for Information, Transport, SMTA, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, underscored the government's commitment to ensuring Karachi's bright and prosperous future. He stressed the importance of expanding public transport services as a critical step towards enhancing citizens' quality of life and alleviating traffic congestion.
