Love Island returned with a bang last night as 12 new singles entered the villa, each hoping to find their future love.
On Monday, June 3rd, the Islanders entered the villa in pairs and trios. Before long, they were greeted by Maya Jama, who introduced the first twist of the series.
Split into groups, the boys and girls had to rank the other based on who is the most boyfriend/girlfriend material. Once ranked, the couples were formed!
But Love Island had more surprises in store, as the first bombshell of the season soon entered the villa! That bombshell was none other than reality TV royalty Joey Essex!

Joey Essex

Joey Essex made a grand entrance into the Love Island villa, surprising both the Islanders and viewers with his new Islander status.
Speaking to The Sun, Joey said he hopes to leave "hand-in-hand with the love of my life".
Sean Stone
Age: 24
Job: Sweet salesman
From: Hertford
Joey explained his reason for joining the villa as: "I’ve always been one for relationships and when you have found someone you want to be with it’s the best feeling. Now is the perfect time, the one thing that is missing is my soulmate."
Harriett Blackmore
Age: 24
Job: Dancer & Personal Shopper

When asked what she will bring to the villa, she said: "for the boys, entertainment, a bit of fun and flirting. I’ll definitely up the flirting. For the girls, I’m a really good friend."
Ayo Odukoya

Talking about what makes him a catch, Ayo said: "I feel like the way I carry myself is very respectful and I think people take to that and once you show who you are to somebody you get it back tenfold.”

Explaining what let her to sign up for Love Island, Mimii says: "The pool in Portsmouth is not giving. I’ve tried dating, speaking to people on social media and it just hasn’t been successful. Applying was a spontaneous thing, I didn’t expect to get here!"
