Lorde has been off the music scene since releasing her album "Solar Power" in 2021.

The New Zealand singer and songwriter, born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, is celebrated for her unconventional pop style and introspective songwriting. She burst onto the scene with Universal Music at just 17 with her EP "Love Club," featuring the hit "Royals" that catapulted her to international superstardom.

Lorde’s hiatus

Since 2021, Lorde seemed to take a step back from the spotlight following the underwhelming reception of "Solar Power" release compared to her earlier work like "Love Club".

In a 2020 interview with Interview magazine, Lorde revealed she "peaced out" from social media, feeling it was eroding her free will. She also expressed a desire to learn "how to practice activism" following the tragic death of George Floyd in the US.

Now, Lorde has made a triumphant return to Instagram, just in time to celebrate 11 years since her breakthrough hit "Royals." In a captivating post, she wrote, "Use the existing tools wherever possible (...) If the tools do not exist you are spiritually obliged to create them."

This has led fans to believe that she is finally set to release the music she has been teasing since 2021.

The intriguing caption was accompanied by a carousel of pictures, including one of Lorde holding a pill inscribed with the word "spit" and another of her spitting from a balcony.

Among the comments was one from photographer Lauren Tepfer, who captured moments from Lorde’s Solar Power tour.
