Harry and Meghan's Netflix downfall as the Beckhams steal the spotlight

Beckhams' documentary crushes ‘Harry & Meghan’ with 43.9M views as Sussexes' popularity nosedives.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are struggling in their competition with the Beckhams.

The Sussexes once dominated Netflix with their multi-million-dollar contract, set to expire in 2025. However, their popularity plummeted in 2023, as reported by the Daily Express.

The couple's series, ‘Harry & Meghan: Limited Series Volumes I and II,’ garnered only 1.9 million views and 12.6 million total views in the latter half of the year. In stark contrast, their former friends-turned-rivals, David and Victoria Beckham, claimed the top spot for global viewing with their documentary, achieving an impressive 43.9 million views between July and December.

The Beckhams' documentary ‘Beckham’ is number one, with 3.5 times the viewing figures and 208.5 million hours watched in the first two months alone, according to the Daily Mail. While the Sussexes' documentary was initially successful, viewer interest has waned.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams discussed the Sussexes' Netflix deal with The Mirror. He noted that the contract, up for renewal next year, might be affected by Netflix's discontinuation of ‘The Crown,’ suggesting the streaming giant might now have less interest in the Sussexes.
