This weekend marked the peak of Doja Cat and Busta Rhymes' mutual admiration as they shared the stage at Hot 97's Summer Jam on Sunday, June 2.

The Grammy-winning artist surprised fans with the appearance of the hip-hop legend during her set.

The performance, part of "Doja Cat and Friends" lineup at the 30th annual hip-hop music festival held at Belmont Park's UBS Arena, saw Doja Cat bringing along some of her pals, including the ‘I Know What You Want’ rapper, Busta Rhymes, as well as fellow artists Gunna and A$AP Ferg.

In her closing performance, starting with "Demons" and concluding with her recent hit "Paint the Town Red," Doja Cat invited Busta Rhymes to join her on stage for a medley of hits, including "New York S---," “Ante Up,” and his iconic verse from "Look at Me Now," as seen in footage and event updates.

Gunna made a surprise appearance during Doja's set, performing "fukumean," while Ferg treated the audience to a preview of his new single before launching into "Plain Jane."

Busta Rhymes and Doja Cat have expressed admiration for each other in the past. She revealed in a 2022 ELLE cover story that she was influenced by Busta's music while growing up, and during a 2023 Hot Ones interview, she referred to the rap icon as a "pioneer."
