Jenna Ortega departs from Netflix series, leaving fans astonished
Netflix has unveiled a significant change in its latest animated series, "Jurassic World: Chaos Theory," leaving fans stunned as Jenna Ortega will no longer voice the character Brooklynn. The revelation came with the release of the series trailer last week, where it was initially hinted that Brooklynn would be killed off.
This narrative twist in the sequel to "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous" sparked a wave of shock and speculation among the show's dedicated followers.
Despite the initial dismay, the series finale disclosed a major plot twist—Brooklynn is alive.
Yet, while the character survives, she will continue her journey without Ortega's voice, being replaced by actress Kiersten Kelly.
This casting shift has taken fans by surprise, with many expressing their reactions on social platforms. "Bro I’m watching Camp Cretaceous Chaos Theory and wtf do you mean they killed off Brooklynn??? I guess they couldn’t get Jenna Ortega anymore,” one viewer tweeted.
Explaining the decision behind Brooklynn’s dramatic storyline, executive producer Scott Kreamer shared with CinemaBlend that the character’s death was planned from the start and unrelated to Ortega’s availability.
“The whole idea of Brooklyn dying, that happened long before,” Kreamer stated.
“That was written with Jenna doing the role that was not like, ‘Oh, we’re not gonna be able to get Jenna, what can we do?’ It was like, ‘No, this is the character who would be asking the questions that would get her into trouble.’ We knew we were gonna see Brooklynn in flashbacks.”
Ortega's burgeoning career is likely a factor in her departure from the series. Since gaining fame, Ortega has taken on significant roles, including starring and producing in the hit series "Wednesday" on Netflix, appearing in the latest "Scream" movies, and landing a role in Tim Burton’s anticipated "Beetlejuice" sequel.
Currently, she is filming the second season of "Wednesday," slated for a 2024 release, and recently starred in "Miller’s Girl," a film that has sparked debate over its controversial themes.
