Sea breeze to bring relief to sweltering Karachi

PMD says weather to remain hot and humid in the city for the next three days

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that Karachi will experience hot and humid weather for the next three days. However, sea breeze is expected to remain active during this period, while most districts of Sindh are likely to see a decrease in heat by June 4.

According to PMD, Sunday saw Karachi's weather remain hot and humid, with humidity levels reaching up to 75% in the morning, resulting in intense heat by noon. Despite this, sea breeze provided some relief to the citizens.

Regarding the city's temperature, a drop of 2.9 degrees Celsius was recorded on Sunday, bringing the temperature down to 35.5 degrees Celsius from 38.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

The heatwave alert centre predicts that Karachi will continue to experience hot and humid conditions over the next three days. Temperatures are expected to range between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius on Monday and between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with active sea breezes providing some respite.

The PMD also noted that a decrease in the heatwave is expected in most districts of the province by June 4.

In other cities of Sindh, temperatures are anticipated to remain high. Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, and Shaheed Benazirabad are expected to see temperatures between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius.

Sanghar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot may experience temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius. In Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar, temperatures are likely to range from 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, the highest temperature in rural Sindh was recorded in Jacobabad at 46.5 degrees Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees higher than the average temperature for June.
