TNSM chief’s son produced in ATC

KARACHI:
Forty-three militants, including three sons of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) founder Maulana Sufi Muhammad were produced in an anti terrorism court in Mingora on Tuesday.

Maulana Sufi’s sons -- Abdullah, Abdur Rehman and Fazalullah --  were brought to the court amid tight security. All suspects were arrested during operation Rah-e-Rast in Swat last year and are accused of terrorism and waging war against the state.

The Express Tribune has learnt that Maulana Sufi himself was not produced in the court due to security reasons. However, the court ordered that the TNSM chief along with other outlaws be presented before the bench on July 20.  On June 21, the court had ordered that Maulana Sufi along with other accused be produced on June 29.

Maulana Sufi was arrested on July 26, 2009 from Peshawar’s Sethi Town for encouraging violence and terrorism in Malakand.
