The Special Anti-Terrorism Court awarded capital punishment on four counts to an accused, Muhamamd Mannan, who had killed his wife, stepdaughter, son and brother-in-law in 2017.
The court also ordered the accused Muhammad Manan to pay Rs300,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the victims.
According to the prosecution, Manan killed his wife Rabia, son Rehan, stepdaughter Raheela and brother-in-law Noor Muhammad on May 12, 2017 on personal grudge.
Manan along with his two sons Asif and Yusuf killed them. The accused killed the victims by beating them with an iron rod. A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of Sabir Ahmed, the father of the deceased Rabia. A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of murder and terrorism at the Supermarket police station.
MQM-London workers acquitted in murder case
The Special Anti-Terrorism Court has acquitted three MQM-London workers for the murder of a citizen, Qari Amin, in Korangi.
The judge said that the prosecution failed to prove the case against Ghazanfar Ali, Ali and Ghulam Abbas. Court acquitted the MQM-London workers due to lack of evidence.
Defence lawyer Abid Zaman Advocate took the position that the prosecution did not have any solid evidence against the accused. The accused have no involvement in the murder, they are innocent. None of the witnesses identified the accused.
According to the police, on February 23, 2012, came out of the Bilal Masjid in Korangi after offering prayers, the accused opened fire on him.
The police report further said that Qari Amin was killed on the orders of the top leadership of MQM. A case was registered against the accused in Zaman Town police station.
