General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor heroically died while protecting his co-worker.

Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on "General Hospital," was fatally shot in the early hours of May 25 in Downtown Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actor died protecting his co-worker Anita Joy during an attempted robbery.

Anita Joy, who worked with Wactor at the Level 8 dining and entertainment complex, shared an emotional account of the tragic incident on Instagram on May 29.

The pair encountered three armed thieves attempting to steal Wactor's catalytic converter. Initially, they thought the car was being towed, but upon realizing the true situation, Wactor calmly requested the thieves leave, identifying the car as his own.

“Johnny was between me and the man who shot him,” Joy recounted. “As I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms.” Despite her efforts to stop the bleeding with her denim jacket and the CPR attempts by a security guard named Bryan, Wactor did not survive. Joy described the scene: “I pushed my legs under him and tried to hold his body up while screaming for help.”

Joy expressed her heartbreak and anger in her post, calling for justice for Wactor. “My only peace is that I was with him and this didn’t happen to him alone,” she wrote.

She also urged fans to support Wactor’s family through a GoFundMe page, which has nearly reached $100,000 in donations.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Wactor died from a gunshot wound to the chest and ruled his death a homicide.

Johnny Wactor's career spanned several TV series and films, including "Army Wives," "NCIS," and "Westworld."

Joy remembered him fondly, highlighting his ability to make everyone feel special. “He lit up any room,” she wrote. “Absolutely one of the best men I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful to have been a part of his world.”
