Kim Kardashian jokes about O.J. Simpson connection to get out of jury duty

Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have spoken about the emotional toll the trial took on their family.

Kim Kardashian, in a preview for an upcoming episode of "The Kardashians," playfully considers using her family's connection to O.J. Simpson to get out of jury duty during her birthday week. While she quickly dismisses the idea as a joke, it serves as a reminder of the Kardashian family's deep and complicated history with Simpson.

Simpson, a close friend of Kim's late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in a highly publicised trial. Robert Kardashian Sr. was part of Simpson's defence team, causing a rift within the Kardashian family.

In previous interviews with PEOPLE, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have spoken about the emotional toll the trial took on their family. Kris Jenner mourned the loss of both Nicole and her friendship with Simpson, while Kim recalled the difficulty of navigating her parents' opposing views as a child.

Despite the sombre history, Kim still managed to celebrate her 43rd birthday with a star-studded bash at Funke restaurant in Beverly Hills, attended by family and friends.

Simpson passed away from cancer on April 10 at the age of 76, closing a chapter in the Kardashian family's history. However, Kim's lighthearted remark about jury duty serves as a reminder of the lasting impact Simpson had on their lives.
