Imran, wife get room coolers in jail
The administration of Adiala Jail has provided PTI founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, with room coolers in their barracks so that they could stay safe from the intense heat in Rawalpindi.
According to prison sources, the Adiala Jail administration has provided additional facilities to prisoners in view of the scorching heat wave gripping the garrison city.
They added that PTI vice chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was imprisoned in the cipher case, had also received a room cooler.
Other prisoners have been provided with cold water in their barracks.
Besides, additional water coolers have been installed at different places within the premises of the jail.
The jail administration said beverages were being provided to the prisoners.
It continued that cold water was available in the barracks of high-profile terrorists.
The jail administration maintained that other arrangements had also been completed to protect the inmates from the effects of the heat wave.
The twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, similar to other parts of the country, are in the grip of a severe heat wave.
This spell of intense heat is expected to last countrywide for another two weeks.
The scorching weather has damaging effects on people. There has been a significant rise in patients suffering from minor to major heat-related illnesses. The minor ones include edema, rash, and cramps. The major illnesses include exhaustion, heat syncope, and stroke.
Meanwhile, the PTI has strongly condemned the current regime and its allies for allegedly trying to play politics with the national atomic programme, a vital national asset earned through immense sacrifice.
A PTI spokesperson called for eradicating personal dictatorship from the Constitution, democracy, public mandate, and economy. He stressed the importance of preserving national consensus on the atomic programme, rather than succumbing to the political agenda of a criminal.
He lambasted the regime's efforts to “manipulate” the nuclear programme for political advantage, labelling its statements as ludicrous.
