ENTERTAINMENT DESK:

At the Cannes Film Festival, Dominican actress and TV presenter Massiel Taveras became the center of controversy after a video surfaced showing her in a heated exchange with a security guard.

The incident occurred during the premiere of "The Count Of Monte Cristo," where Taveras was making headlines with her striking white gown featuring an image of Jesus Christ.

The altercation began when a female usher, previously criticized by singer Kelly Rowland for similar reasons, attempted to rush Taveras off the red carpet, disrupting her moment.

The footage reveals Taveras visibly agitated as the usher puts her arm around her, leading to Taveras pushing the usher's hand away in response.

This incident mirrors an earlier encounter involving Kelly Rowland, who accused the same usher of mishandling her at the event.

Rowland highlighted potential racial undertones in her treatment, stating, "There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded, or pushed off, or told to get off. I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers. But I stood my ground."

The back-to-back incidents have sparked conversations about the treatment of celebrities, particularly women of color, by staff at high-profile events.

Both Taveras and Rowland have publicly asserted their right to personal boundaries, raising questions about consistency and respect in security protocols at such gatherings.
