Rahul Kohli discusses losing Marvel ‘The Fantastic Four’ role, maintains optimistic outlook
Actor Rahul Kohli recently opened up about his close call with joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans had campaigned for him to play Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot - 'The Fantastic Four,' releasing in 2025.
While Kohli ultimately didn't land the part, he maintains a positive outlook and expresses his appreciation for the fan support.
In an interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli acknowledged the fan casting efforts with a touch of humor. “Yeah, I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it, but I didn't get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine.”
He went on to describe the emotional rollercoaster of auditioning for such a coveted role. “It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them,” he said, referring to the support from fans.
“On good days, you're like, 'Man, I'm wanted!' People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”
However, he also acknowledged the discouragement that can come with missing out on a dream role. “On bad days, 'It's a reminder that you're not the guy. You're not there. These are the roles you'll never get,'” he shared.
Kohli's comments highlight the double-edged sword of fan casting. While it can be a confidence booster for actors, it can also lead to disappointment.
Ultimately, Kohli remains optimistic. “So, it's sweet and it's perspective. It's how you feel about yourself,” he concluded.
Pedro Pascal will be suiting up as Mister Fantastic in the upcoming film. He'll be joined by a star-studded cast including Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.
Julia Garner will portray the enigmatic Silver Surfer, while Matt Shakman (‘WandaVision’) takes the helm as director. ‘Fantastic Four’ is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
