SHINee's Onew reflects on 16th anniversary after health hiatus, thanks supportive members
Onew joined his fellow members on MBC's ‘Hang Out with Yoo’ to celebrate their debut anniversary on May 25th.
Fans were relieved to see Onew looking well after taking a break from activities last June due to health concerns.
During the show, host Yoo Jae Suk asked the group how their dynamic has changed since their teenage debut days. Key responded, “We used to be more like coworkers, but after a decade together, we're like family. There's a deeper understanding now.”
Onew added a touching sentiment, expressing his gratitude to the members for their support: “We could only have reached this milestone because the members were so patient with me. That would have been my approach too, of course.”
SHINee, a group known for their high-energy performances and catchy music, debuted in May 2008 under SM Entertainment.
The five members - Onew, Jonghyun, Minho, Key, and Taemin - quickly rose to fame with their debut EP ‘Replay’ and first studio album ‘The Shinee World.’
The group solidified their popularity with follow-up hits like the playful ‘Ring Ding Dong’ and the charismatic ‘Lucifer.’ SHINee continued to experiment with different sounds, becoming known for their versatility.
Some of their other popular songs include the funky ‘Sherlock’ the soulful ‘Everybody,’ and the sentimental ballad ‘View.’
