The Black Keys quietly cancel tour due to poor ticket sales
The Black Keys have discreetly called off their upcoming "International Players Tour."
In support of their newest album, "Ohio Players," The Black Keys' North American arena tour was scheduled to commence on September 17th in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with stops planned in cities including Austin, Seattle, Atlanta, and others.
However, as of Saturday, all but one of the band's planned concerts have disappeared from their website. Ticketmaster also indicates that the shows are canceled.
The Black Keys have not publicly addressed the tour's cancellation yet.
According to ticket availability data obtained from Ticketmaster, it seems that the tour experienced low ticket sales. Some fans attributed this to the steep ticket prices, ranging from $100 to $300.
It's notable that although The Black Keys have previously toured arenas, "Ohio Players" marked their least commercially successful release in nearly twenty years.
Upon its April release, the album entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 26 In comparison, their prior album, 2022's "Dropout Boogie," debuted at No. 8.
Fans weren't taken aback by the tour's cancellation.
One fan on X remarked, “whoever thought booking this band in arenas in 2024 should be fired”. Another fan questioned who would pay $600 for floor seats, suggesting, “you need conservatorship if that’s what you spend money on.”
Currently, The Black Keys have only one confirmed live performance, set for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race on July 6th.
