Gujar Khan police claim to arrest accomplice, recover Rs0.6m stolen cash

A suspect was killed by his accomplice's firing during an alleged police encounter in the limits of Gujar Khan police station.

According to a spokesperson for the police, another suspect was arrested while a third managed to escape after intense exchange of fire.

The spokesperson further said the Gujar Khan police received a report of a robbery at Police helpline number 15, and responded immediately. “Upon reaching the spot, three accused on a motorcycle opened fire on seeing the police party, he said. The police retaliated and took positions to secure their personnel.

In the exchange of fire, one of the accused was injured and later died in the hospital during treatment. The second accused was arrested, while the third managed to escape.

The police recovered Rs0.6 million, a mobile phone, arms, a motorcycle, and other items from the arrested accused.

The accused had snatched the valuables from a citizen during the robbery, he added. SP Saddar assured locals that a search is ongoing to arrest the escaped dacoits. He said strict action will be taken against all such accused who carry out firing at civilians or police.
