Police refuses to register FIR against doctor

SHO says two cannot be registered for the same incident.

LAHORE:

Kot Lakhpat police on Tuesday refused to register an FIR against a doctor on the complaint of family whose eight-year-old daughter died at the Lahore General Hospital.

The family of the deceased girl, Ayesha, who died on September 3 after she was brought to the hospital after she fell from the roof of her house, said that the police had refused to register a separate FIR saying that an FIR had already been registered following the doctor’s complaint against the family for beating him.

Asked for his opinion, Advocate Azhar Siddique said that the police should register both the FIRs. “Chronologically the death of the girl occurred first. A separate FIR should have been lodged,” he said.

Ayesha’s father, Shabbir told The Express Tribune that the girl was left unattended for more than half an hour.

Dr Ajmal of General Hospital told The Tribune that several people had thrashed the doctors at the hospital. He said that the child had died due to a 20-foot fall and her brain had stopped working.

SHO Khalil told The Tribune that while two FIRs could not be registered for the same incident, the family’s version of events and their allegations against the doctors would be made part of the case record.
