An exhibition of pictures of Sikh shrines named after trees in India and Pakistan will open at the Alhamra Art Gallery today.
Tryst With Trees – Punjab’s Sacred Heritage is a pictorial documentation of 58 shrines named after 19 species of trees, including Gurdwara Tahli Sahib, Gurdwara Neem Sahib in Patiala, Gurdwara Ber Sahib in Sialkot, Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali, Gurdwara Ritha Sahib and Gurudwara Lasuhra Sahib in Lahore. The photographs were taken by Damanbir Singh Jaspal, who is a chief secretary-level officer in the Indian Punjab government and is visiting Pakistan with a six-member Indian delegation.
