Atif Aslam talks about ‘fantastic’ experience working with Humayun Saeed
With only two episodes released, Gentleman has quickly become one of television's most popular dramas, amassing millions of views. The OST Tumhari Chup, sung by Atif Aslam and composed by Naveed Nashad, is trending globally. Fans are enamoured with the drama's cinematic quality and captivating background music. In an interview with Next Level Backstage, the singer shared his thoughts on the song and its creation.
When specifically asked about what it was like collaborating with Humayun Saeed, the Pehli Dafa singer stated, “I feel strange about it because he’s been around for a long time and we’ve never worked together, this is the first time we’re coming together. Which is fantastic.” The interview video also showcased clips of the actor actively participating in the production of the song, intently listening during the recording process.
Atif also expressed he had a “wonderful time” working with Sana Shahnawaz and Samina Humayun Saeed, the two women behind Gentleman. He revealed that he was presented with two different compositions, and, after careful consideration, they chose the one that became the final OST. “It was a general consensus amongst us that this choice was the one. The credit goes to them they were fair to the compositions and to the drama itself,” said the Jeene Laga Hoon singer.
Atif recalled his initial reaction to Tumhari Chup's lyrics. “These lyrics are relatable for anyone who has experienced longing in any relationship and that is the vibe I felt too when I heard the lyrics,” he said. Reflecting on the song's development, he added, “I believe that in every composition you learn something new, so I’m out there to learn.”
Discussing the connection between music and rain, Atif shared, “I recorded Tumhari Chup when it was raining outside and whenever I record music while it rains, the songs have come out well.” He also mentioned that the entire recording process took only two to three hours. The combination of Atif’s emotive vocals and Naveed’s compelling composition of Tumhari Chup has significantly contributed to the early success of Gentleman.
